How to write a listing that actually gets bookings

After onboarding more than a hundred PNG properties, we've seen a clear pattern in what makes a listing convert. Here are the five levers that separate top performers from the rest.

1. A hero photo that's actually the property

Stock photos of beaches and generic hotel rooms lose to a real, well-lit photo of your entrance or best room. Take it in the morning or late afternoon light, from outside, showing the signboard.

Your hero photo is the single biggest driver of clicks.

2. 8+ captioned photos across categories

Cover, exterior, rooms, dining, activity, gallery. Every photo needs a caption — 'Twin room with private ensuite' beats a blank caption every time.

3. A three-paragraph description

  • Paragraph 1: what you are and where you are (with landmarks)
  • Paragraph 2: what guests get — rooms, meals, transfers, Wi-Fi
  • Paragraph 3: who it's for and how to book

4. Real amenities, not fluff

'Cosy atmosphere' means nothing. '24-hour reception, hot showers, generator backup, airport transfer PGK 50' means everything. List 8–15 concrete items.

5. WhatsApp-ready contact

PNG travellers overwhelmingly prefer WhatsApp. A WhatsApp-capable phone number in the listing gets 3–4× more enquiries than an email alone.

"List free on HausLink. First 180 days from listing are commission-free — after that, HausLink takes just 5% commission on confirmed stays booked through the platform."
