Payment, Reservation, Cancellation & Refund Policy

Last updated: 21 October 2026

This policy explains how booking requests, reservations, payments, cancellations and refunds work on HausLink. It applies to guests and property owners using the HausLink marketplace. It is written in plain English and does not limit any rights you have under applicable law.

1. A booking request is not a confirmed reservation

When you send a booking request on HausLink, you are asking the property for availability. Your room is not reserved yet. Availability must be verified by the property (or by HausLink on the property's behalf) before anything is confirmed.

Your reservation is confirmed only when both of the following have happened:

  • The property has confirmed availability for your dates; and
  • Any required payment has been made and verified, where the booking requires payment before confirmation.

Until then, messages such as "booking request received" or "room held" mean your request is being processed — not that your stay is guaranteed.

2. Payments

The payment requirement for your booking — including the amount, who to pay, and how — is always shown to you before you pay. Depending on the payment method disclosed for your booking, payment is made to HausLink (which collects on behalf of the property) or directly as instructed at checkout. HausLink never asks for card details by email.

Paying for a booking is separate from whether that payment is refundable. A booking that requires payment is not automatically non-refundable. Whether a payment can be refunded depends on the cancellation terms that were disclosed to you before you paid (see section 3).

If you believe you were charged twice, or you dispute a charge, contact HausLink at sales@hauslink.online with your booking reference and we will investigate with the payment provider or bank.

3. Cancellations, no-shows and early departure

Cancellation, no-show and early-departure terms can differ from property to property. Property-specific terms apply to your booking only when they were disclosed to you before you paid. If no property-specific terms were shown before payment, do not assume the booking is non-refundable — contact HausLink and we will confirm the applicable terms with the property before you commit.

If a property cancels your confirmed booking or cannot honour it (for example, the room is unavailable), the property and HausLink will work with you toward an agreed alternative. Where no suitable alternative is agreed, you are entitled to a refund of the affected amount.

4. Refunds

Where a refund is due under the applicable terms, HausLink or the property (depending on who received the payment) will process it. Refund processing times depend on the payment providers and banks involved and can vary — we cannot guarantee a fixed timeframe, but we will keep you informed and follow up on your behalf.

To ask about a cancellation or refund, contact sales@hauslink.online with your booking reference.

5. If something goes wrong

  • Payment failed or status unclear? Check your transaction status with your bank or payment provider first. If money left your account, contact HausLink and we will trace it — do not pay a second time until the first payment is checked.
  • Property unavailable after confirmation? We will help you agree an alternative or arrange a refund of the affected amount (section 3).
  • Duplicate or disputed charge? Report it to HausLink (section 2) and we will investigate.

6. Your legal rights

Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer rights or remedies you have under the laws of Papua New Guinea or your own country that cannot lawfully be excluded.
